Time to get yourself out there!
Comp Cards are the modelling equivalent of combining a business card with a mini print portfolio. You’ll have four images that mix headshots to full-length shots, different angles and possibly with generic products to show your modelling versatility.
Preparations
Please look at my Instagram or online portfolio to get a sense of my style.
Think about the sort of modelling you want to do and think backwards from there.
With make-up, less is more. None is best.
Bring 2 to 4 simple outfits.
No matter who you are, you already look great.
If you can’t make the session for any reason, please give me 24 hours notice.
The session
Sessions last around one hour at the location we’ve decided on.
There’s an agreement to agree to (shown at the bottom of this page).
A good number of people I photograph have never had a good picture taken of themselves before. We will relax and I’ll guide you to get brilliant pictures.
There’s no such thing as posing. Only body language and composition. I’ll worry about that so you don’t have to.
The Photos
All delivered digital images will have 'global' corrections such as overall brightness and contrast. 'Local' corrections (retouching) are more time consuming and are only available as an extra service per image.
Sessions result in 10 final digital images, ready to view within a week.
The images will be displayed via gallery on this site. The gallery is a stand-alone page, meaning there’s no direct navigation to it on my site, but anyone who has the link to can view the gallery without a password. This is a good way to share with family and friends. The link will be live for 6 months.
The gallery images are not protected, so you can “right click” and “save as…”, or you can request a DropBox link if you’d prefer.
The Comp Card
We will pick 4 final images for your comp card, mixing close-up, 3/4 and full length shots.
I highly recommend the detailed retouching for these photos, or the close-ups at the very least.
The photos and your stats will be incorporated into a two-page PDF which you can send to a printing service or I can print small batches in a quick turnaround service.
Portrait Session Contract
Here is a contract so we know what to expect from each other. Please read it carefully.
Session booking and payment. Reserve your date. The Photographer will reserve the time and date agreed by both parties upon receipt of a non-refundable retainer (50% of the session cost). The remainder of the payment is due one week before the session and is nonrefundable. The remainder is forfeited by the Client if the Client arrives more than 15 minutes after agreed start time, or fails to attend. If the Photographer cannot complete the session for any reason of his own, he will refund any payments made (including the retainer) but claims no liability beyond that refund. Photographs will not be released by the Photographer until final payment is made. All sales are final.
Location. Pick a place for your session. Photo sessions will take place in a location of the Client's choice. Locations beyond Houston’s beltway 8 will be subject to travel expenses. Permit or permissions in advance for non-public locations and parking/rental charges are the responsibility of the client.
Liability. Safety first. The Client is responsible for their own safety and the Photographer claims no responsibility for any injuries or damages to the Client or the Client’s property.
Creative license. You've chosen the Photographer for their creative decision making. The Photographer's website provides a sample of the style of photography to expect, but each session is unique, so some variation in style is inevitable. The photography style and execution is at the Photographer's discretion.
Image ownership. The files are yours for personal use; copyright remains with the photographer. Film negatives and digital files remain the property under copyright of the Photographer, who has the rights to use all images for any purpose and in any form. The client’s name may be printed next to the photographs. The Client waives any ownership and publication rights in connection with the photographs, with the exception of personal use of the photographs as part of a personal portfolio, social media and personal printing, but the Photographer insists that no alterations or filters be applied to the images. The Client agrees they have no right to sell, license or publish any of the photographs to any person or entity.
The risks of photography. Its not likely, but failures can happen. If the Photographer is unable to make images, or images are lost due to equipment failure, either a re-shoot will be arranged at no extra cost to the Client, or a full refund will be made including the retainer.
Image processing. All images will have global corrections. Local edits are available. All delivered digital images will have 'global' corrections such as overall brightness and contrast. 'Local' editing (retouching) including blemish removal, skin smoothing are more time consuming and subject to an editing fee per image.
Image storage. You are responsible for storing your digital files. The Photographer will save files for 2 months from the date of the session. The Client is responsible for the long-term storage of delivered digital image files.
This contract is final. This contract shall not be altered unless approved in writing by both the Photographer and the Client. This contract shall be governed by the laws of Texas. Any legal disputes or proceedings shall take place in Texas.
